I encourage all parents to become involved in your child’s education. In addition to all the great things you do with your children at home, becoming involved at school can strengthen the connection between home and school. There are a number of opportunities to get involved with your child’s education.

Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM) is the parent-teacher organization in our school. They plan events and fundraisers to purchase things for the students and the school. TEAM meets the first Tuesday of the month at 5:30 in the SCES library. All parents are welcome to attend the meetings. If you would like to get involved, but are unable to attend the meetings, you can join the SCES TEAM Facebook page or find information regarding events on the USD466 website.

Site Council is another way to become involved. Site Council meets quarterly in the SCES library. Site Council member are approved by the Scott Community Schools Board of Education. These members represent teachers, parents and community members. The Site Council discusses issues at the building and district level. A list of Site Council members can be found on the USD 466 website. If you have a topic you would like discussed, let one of the Site Council members know.

Parents are also welcome to volunteer during and after the school day. Visit with your child’s teacher about arranging a time to volunteer.

Throughout the year we will have several Family Nights. These evenings are intended for you to have an opportunity to see what you child is learning about in school and to explore new things. Staff members are available to help answer questions. This year we will have monthly preschool Parents as Educator’s nights, two family reading nights, a math night and a math nigh for parents.

Parent-teacher conferences will be held twice a year in October and February. I encourage you to attend conferences to see your child’s progress. If you have questions about your child, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher anytime during the year. Parents can sign up for Parents Online, which is an online tool that will allow you to see your child’s grades and progress in real time.
