Notice from the health office:

Beginning next semester the USD 466 Health Rooms will no longer be supplying over the counter medications such as Tylenol and ibuprofen for students once the supply is depleted. Students who regularly request these medications will be advised to bring their own supply in the original labeled containers, accompanied by the completed, and signed Medication Permission form. The medications brought in will be kept by the nurse in the locked medication cabinets and distributed as per the instructions on the Medication Permission form. Alternately, the student (if age appropriate) may self-carry these medications with the self-carry portion of the Medication Permission form completed, returned to school nurse and on file. The unused portions of these medications will be returned at the end of the school year.

This change in practice is necessary to be compliant with current USD 466 policy, and best-practice guidelines. Medications such as Benadryl, contact saline, etc. will continue be stocked by the school for emergency use only. Any exceptions allowed to this practice will be determined by the school nurse or administration based on urgency, and/or hardship.

Thank you for you cooperation,
